Lead Childminder

Job Description:
This is a full-time unionized position, based on a 30-hour week schedule from Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities:
  • Planning and implementing a culturally sensitive program reflecting the multicultural reality of Canada, to meet the social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language development needs appropriate for the age and development of the children
  • Oversee the daily operation of the CNC program taking the lead in meeting CNC (Care for Newcomer Children) requirements, including implementing policies, procedures and orientation
  • Prepare program plans using emergent curriculum focus to prepare children for kindergarten
  • Develop children’s program to facilitate language and social skills development and integration of children.
  • Assess and register children in program
  • Coordinate and supervise LINC Childminders and Childminding Supply Staff and Volunteers
  • Collect, review and file Childminders’ daily activity plans
  • Ensure development and compliance of health & safety standards and best practices
  • Actively integrate parents into the childcare center
  • Provide guidance and conflict resolution with, parents staff and/or volunteers
  • Monitor compliance with the CMAS child minding guidelines
  • Provide guidance and training to Childminders in the development of the children’s program
  • Monitor compliance with CNC requirements and responsibilities during the annual assessment
  • Prepare needs assessment and plans for the Childminding professional development program
  • Assist in childminding
  • Collect, tabulate and prepare narrative reports on a monthly and ad hoc basis and other information as required.
  • Prepare and submit monthly statistical and cash reports.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations to the Language Program Manager regarding program delivery
  • Provide input to the Language Manager in preparing funding applications.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of each child attending the program
  • Ensure that all health and safety standards are met at the Centre
  • Participate in community outreach and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma
  • Experience in a supervisory role within a Daycare/Childcare related setting working with children from infants to school age
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in English (speaking/ Writing), and other languages are an asset
  • Knowledge of LINC, CNC guidelines
  • Up-to-date First AID/CPR, TB test certification and Police Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector) from the Police Department on criminal reference clearance
  • Knowledgeable of and sensitive to family and children settlement needs
  • Possess creativity and ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities
