Job Description:
The Event Coordinator will support SAFSS Youth Program by planning, organizing, and assisting in the delivery of sport-focused workshops, physical activity events, and group recreation activities for newcomer and racialized youth.
Special Instructions:
To be eligible, participants must: • Be between 15–30 years of age at the start of the funded position • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person with granted refugee status • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
Responsibilities:

Event Planning & Coordination

  • Support the design and planning of sports and recreation events (e.g., soccer days, basketball clinics, fitness sessions, outdoor activities, youth tournaments)
  • Assist in developing event concepts that promote teamwork, leadership, health, and social inclusion
  • Help prepare materials and coordinate logistics for events

Event Delivery & On-Site Support

  • Assist with setup and takedown of event spaces and equipment (cones, balls, score sheets, water stations, etc.)
  • Welcome participants and support smooth event registration/sign-in processes
  • Help manage activity rotations, score tracking, and general event flow
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants
  • Collect participant feedback during and after events

Administrative Support

  • Maintain organized event files and digital documentation
  • Track attendance and input data into SAFSS databases for reporting
  • Assist in preparing simple post-event summaries and reports
  • Support identification of improvements for future programming
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Interest in sports, recreation, event planning, or youth programming
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and community participants
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to take initiative
  • Experience working with youth or in community settings is an asset
