Mirela Paunescu
Mirela holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Law from Ovidius University, Romania and began her career as a Legal Counsel at the Romanian Customs.
She has over 20 years of extensive experience of across both the private and public sectors in legal and government administration. Her areas of expertise include legal research, decision-making, policy development and stakeholder consultations. She currently plays a leadership role at the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development utilizing her in-depth subject matter expertise in applying legislation and making decisions to support the organization’s integrity.
She is very passionate to volunteer on an ongoing basis as a way of giving back to the community. She has been volunteering for many years as an Ambassador Coordinator/Lead for various non-profit, charitable organizations including United Way Fundraising Campaign, Federated Health Charities Campaign, Children's Aid Foundation of Canada, Daily Bread Food Bank, Law Society Foundation “Toronto Lawyers Feed the Hungry”, Toronto Sharing Place and YWCA Toronto.
