Volunteering Opportunities
Volunteers are an important human resource to an organization. They bring a passion for the cause, a commitment to the purpose and are motivated by their choice of involvement.
Why Volunteer with SAFSS?
A volunteer is a person who has chosen to give his or her time, skills, talent and expertise to a worth while group or cause without concern for monetary profit. Settlement Assistance and Family Support Services (SAFSS) requires committed volunteers to help in delivering different need based programs and services to our community, organize special events such as South Asian Heritage Day/Asian Heritage Day, Annual Gala Dinner and other fundraising events, and conduct Needs Assessment in the community and many worthwhile activities. It is a great opportunity to volunteer in SAFSS.
Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity and is intended to promote good or improve human quality of life. In return, this activity produces a feeling of self-worth and respect; without financial gain. Volunteering is also renowned for skill development, socialization, and fun. It is also intended to make contacts for possible employment. Many volunteers are specifically trained in the areas they work, such as settlement services, organizing special events, helping in community workshops and info sessions, managing reception desk etc.
