Sarah Munuz
I would like to acknowledge that Sara is a dedicated, punctual and a hardworking student. Initially, Sara was quite depressed due to her personal problems. With the help of LINC English classes and her level of English language got stronger. She eventually developed herself into an independent successful business woman. Originally from Argentina she migrated to Scarborough. Sara is now a busy Real Estate Agent.
Her previous career was as a teacher in her home country. Shortly after arriving she was faced personal trauma that changed everything. Her marriage ended with her alone supporting a son and a daughter. Emotionally unstable, she then decided to join LINC class, seeking diversion from her life’s pressure. Low and behold, there was a teacher who consistently inspired me along with class of 18. I know there are things I’ve never known before and sometimes I felt a sense of embarrassment in expressing my South American views; it was not until I sat down in the classroom, the most inspiring space I’ve ever seen. Being a creative teacher in the past I noticed the classroom walls were beautifully decorated with thought-provoking messages and learners’ achievements.
It was the whole concept of the 5-hour class filled with food for thought and growth that I created made a big difference. We started the first hour with Table talk. Table Talk is about news, local, national and international which made us aware of our environment. Her favourite period was called Business English where we tackled job search, resumes, cover letter, interviews and thank you letters, to prepare us for job hunt. The rest of the day was used on the structure of the English language called grammar.
